Movement
Born and raised in inner city Detroit, Adam Thomason, vision caster for the Red Revolution, at one point allowed his culture to be his GOD. He let his culture define and be the Lord of who he was: from the way that he dressed, music he listened to, food he ate, even who he hung out with and considered “cool.” Where we go wrong as people, in the words of Matt Chandler, is “when we consider our way of life as ‘The way’ instead of ‘a way’ and anyone living life differently doesn’t measure up.”
This has been the problem through out the history of society and culture. From the hood to the high society, from the Asian to the American, a cultural short circuit has been woven throughout history and across all forms of society across the globe. The tragedy and epidemic does not exist with people who do not know Christ. But it exists among those who claim to be reproducers of Christ and still hold to forms of racism, classism, or “economicalism”. To think that your lifestyle is the only approach to life, limits the impact of Christ in our culture. There must be a revolution amongst the redeemed to truly transform culture. Without the lens of Christ, how and why should we expect people to change?
